Ada Mary Jean (Day) Sands
September 6, 1936 – March 21, 2017
After a long battle with cancer the family of Ada Mary Jean (Day) Sands are sad to announce that Ada passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on March 21st, 2017 with her granddaughter by her side.
Ada was born September 6, 1936 in Gananoque Ontario. Ada is predeceased by her Mother and Father, as well as 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She married her husband Kieran James Sands in August of 1954 (predeceased February 8, 1979) and soon started her own family of 7. She moved to B.C. in the early 70’s where she met her true love, Ken Pocha. They were able to spend 43 years together before Ken passed away October 3rd, 2016. Although they shared no children together, they raised two grandchildren together, Twila Campbell and Mike Sands, as well as helped with many of the other 22 grandchildren.
Ada leaves to mourn her 7 children, Patrick Sands, Thom Sands, Kevin Sands, Karen (Kormillo), Ruth (Linsay), Rose (Daoust), and Eileen (Hutton). 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, as well as friends.
Please join the family in a service for Ada at the Salvation Army, 533 Slater Rd, Cranbrook, B.C. on Saturday April 15, 2017 at 11am, with a Celebration of Life to follow.
