Woman killed in two-car accident near Wardner

Collision happened Friday, March 10, on Highway 3/93

At about 12:30 p.m., Friday afternoon, March 10, Cranbrook RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 3/93 near Wardner, east of Cranbrook.

The accident occurred when a 2016 blue Honda Pilot and a 2012 grey Dodge Caravan collided head-on.

The 36-year-old female driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries, and was transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The accident claimed the life of a 44-year-old woman from Baynes Lake, who was driving the Caravan.

The highway was closed for approximately five hours, as police and a Collision Reconstructionalist investigated the accident. Anyone who may have witnessed the actual collision or saw either vehicle prior to the accident is asked to contact East Kootenay Traffic Services at 250-420-4244.

The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time while the investigation continues.
