Cranbrook RCMP are currently investigating a large seizure of American cigarettes.
On January 10, 2017, RCMP began a criminal investigation under both the Customs and Excise Act and Criminal Code regarding a large shipment of cigarettes and illegal sale of tobacco.
Four adults were arrested and one vehicle seized.
A search warrant was executed at a residence on Hurry Avenue in Cranbrook where trafficking related evidence was seized, including approximately an amount of cigarettes equivalent to 150 cartons.
The arrested parties were released and will appear in Provincial Court in March 2017.
Cranbrook RCMP in partnership with Health Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency will be continuing the investigation.
