West Kootenay motorcycle accident claims life of Cranbrook man

On August 14, a report of a fatal motorcycle collision occurring on Hwy 31A between New Denver and Kaslo was received.

The New Denver RCMP and RCMP Central Kootenays Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into the fatal motorcycle collision which occurred on Hwy 31A this past Sunday.

On August 14, 2016, A report of a fatal motorcycle collision occurring on Hwy 31A between New Denver and Kaslo was received. On attending the location, RCMP investigators were able to determine that a 42 year old male from Cranbrook, was westbound when he failed to properly negotiate a corner and crossed over the centerline into the path of an eastbound SUV.

The man was transported to the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, however succumbed to his injuries. An RCMP Traffic Services Collision Reconstructionist attended to the location and examined the scene.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time. Further media inquiries can be directed to the BC Coroners Services.
