A single vehicle accident has taken the life of a 52-year old Wasa man.

Cranbrook RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a single vehicle accident at 1:23 a.m. on January 6, 2013. The accident occurred on Highway 93/95 near the Wasa Rest Stop.

Police say a 1986 Ford pickup truck was heading north and went off the road to the left. The truck hit the ditch and rolled over once.

The single occupant and driver appears to have died instantly, says Cpl. D. Perpelitz of East Kootenay Traffic Services. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Perpelitz says road conditions at the time were good, although a light snow was beginning to fall.

The identity of the deceased was not being released at press time pending notification of family.
