The Tamarack Chair is currently out of commission at Kimberley Alpine Resort.

The Tamarack chairlift at Kimberley Alpine Resort is temporarily out of commission, due to an issue with a critical electrical component in its safety system the resort's maintenance team discovered on Thursday.

"I want to assure you that this is not due to a lack of preventative maintenance, our team up here follows a strict set of protocols to ensure the safety and reliability of all our lift," said Director of Maintenance and Lift Operations Ben Cohen. "Despite this, sometimes failures like this due occur."

The resort said they are actively working with their suppliers to source the parts needed to get the chair operating again as soon as possible.

"Safety is always our top priority, and we will not compromise on that," Cohen said. "I would like to thank you for understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue."

While the Tamarack Chair is down, the North Star and Easter lifts are still running on normal operating schedules and service all the mountain's terrain down to Ridgeway, with signage and rope lines have been installed to close the runs below Ridgeway.

Resort staff asks that you please respect these closures for your own safety, and the safety of their staff.

They will provide an update with a more accurate timeline for repairs as more information becomes available. You can follow @kimberleyalpineresort on social media or visit skikimberley.com for updates.
