A group of Grade 8 students has been selling baked goods at Laurie Middle School for the past six weeks to raise money for Street Angel.

"Our whole entire class decided on this," said Leaha Thomson.

"We decided it was a really good idea to help."

Each Thursday, the students bring in baked goods from home to sell to their schoolmates.

Dec. 19 was the final day of the fundraiser, which has raised more than $200.

Teacher Jayme Farnan said the students were inspired by motivational speaker and YouTube sensation Kid President to help the less fortunate.

Run by the Ktunaxa Nation, Operation Street Angel has a drop-in centre on 14th Avenue North which provides services to Cranbrook's homeless population.
