One person was taken to hospital following a structure fire in the 100 block of 8th Avenue South in Cranbrook Wednesday night.
At approximately 9 pm, Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services responded to the 911 call and upon arrival found the lone female occupant outside of the home. She was taken by ambulance to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for assessment.
Fire fighters quickly entered the building and were able to knock down and extinguish the fire. Crews are still on scene as of 10:00pm working to secure the scene.
No cause has been determined and no damage estimate is known. Officials will conduct their investigation into the cause on Thursday morning.
