RCMP arrested two subjects on February 16, after stopping a stolen vehicle using a spike belt. Elk Valley Detachment received a report of a gas theft in Sparwood around 7 p.m. A license plate number was obtained and further checks found the vehicle had been stolen from Calmar, Alberta.
Elk Valley detachment advised the vehicle was last seen headed west towards Cranbrook on Highway 3.
Officers successfully deployed a spike belt near the game check east of Cranbrook around 8 p.m. The vehicle was stopped and two subjects were arrested, an 18 year old male and 15 year old female both from Alberta. They were held in custody pending an appearance before a Judicial Justice of the Peace February17.
They are currently facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property, theft and Breach of Probation.
