Kimberley RCMP is recommending several charges after dealing with a suspicious male, on Jan 20 on Wallinger Ave in Kimberley.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Jan 20 police were called to Wallinger Ave after receiving a complaint about male acting in a disturbing manner.
A police officer attended and was assisting the man when a complaint was received from a local business about a theft that had occurred the day before. A second officer attended the business and viewed video surveillance of the theft. He identified the suspect as the male the other officer was currently assisting.
The man was then arrested for theft and taken into custody. As the officer felt with the man a female got involved and conveyed her displeasure about the man’s arrest and attempted to the damage the police vehicle. When she was being advised of her arrest, the woman assaulted the officer. A struggle ensued but the officer was able to take control and take her into custody as well.
The male subject appeared in court on Theft charges on Jan 21 and was released for court on Jan 25. Charges of Resist Arrest, Assault a Police Officer and Mischief against the female are being forwarded to Crown Counsel for review.
