Cranbrook RCMP responded to 187 calls for service between Monday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 9. Staff Sgt. Dave Dubnyk provided the details.
Aug. 3
2:24 a.m. Police received a request from a local hotel to remove an unwanted guest.
2:28 a.m. Report of a suspicious person on the 1600 block of 2nd Street North.
8:14 a.m. Report of chronic speeders on an area of 17th Avenue North.
9:00 a.m. Police were requested to keep the peace at a residence while a former resident picked up some belongings.
10:08 a.m. B.C. Ambulance requested assistance in dealing with a male subject on the 500 block of King Street West.
10:30 a.m. Report of an attempted theft at a residence on the 200 block of 21st Street North.
11:59 a.m. Report of an erratic driver. The vehicle was a newer model black Hyundai with an Alberta licence plate.
12:51 p.m. RCMP were requested to keep peace while an individual picked up belongings.
1:41 p.m A suspicious occurrence, which happened sometime overnight, was reported. The caller reported that they found a bullet hole in the bumper of their car parked on the 3100 block of 30th Avenue South. Police are investigating the matter.
5:39 p.m. Report of a two vehicle collision at a local service station. The caller suspected the other driver was intoxicated. Police located the suspect vehicle several blocks away from the scene near a park. The driver was sleeping in the park and was arrested for being intoxicated in public.
6:04 p.m. Police received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 2300 block of 5th Avenue South.
6:35 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle on the 1100 block of 16th Avenue South.
7:14 p.m. Report of a vehicle driving dangerously near Rotary Park, squealing tires and stunting. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration and the vehicle, an older green Ford Bronco, was impounded for seven days for stunting.
9:00 p.m. Report of a disturbance on the 1500 block of 1st Street South. An individual threw an item at a vehicle they thought was driving too fast to get their attention and tell them to slow down. Staff Sgt. Dubnyk said police strongly advise against that tactic. Instead it is best to write the licence plate down and report it to police.
9:22 p.m. Police received a report of a suspicious female in the downtown core of Cranbrook. Police attended and located a female subject who was highly intoxicated. She was arrested and lodged in a cell until sober.
9:53 p.m. A local fast food restaurant called to report that two males had come through the drive-thru and said sexually inappropriate remarks to a young person working there.
10:29 p.m. Report of a possible suicidal female. Police attended and spoke to the woman, who voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital for further mental health assessment.
Aug. 4
11:26 a.m. Report of a camper broken into on the 500 block of Slater Road Northwest. The complainant provided suspects names and the matter is under investigation.
12:54 p.m. Police were requested to keep the peace at a workplace as a former employee picked up a final pay check after being recently fired.
2:34 p.m. An intoxicated male was reported to be urinating in Rotary Park and disturbing other visitors. Police located the intoxicated man passed out in the park in his underwear. He was arrested and lodged until sober. He was also issued with a violation ticket for being intoxicated in a public place.
2:39 p.m. A blue Honda generator was stolen from the back of a truck parked at the Greyhound parking lot.
3:31 p.m. Report of a two vehicle accident. Police attended and it appeared one of the drivers was suffering from some other medical issue. That driver was taken to hospital by ambulance.
3:58 p.m. Report of an assault.
8:12 p.m. Report of a erratic driver on Highway 3/95 near Moyie. The vehicle was a black Dodge Caliber with BC licence plates. The vehicle was reported to be speeding and weaving through traffic.
8:24 p.m. A caller reported a pedestrian accident, when a vehicle slowly backed out of a driveway and hit a small child riding up and down to the street on a toy car. The child was taken to hospital and had only two superficial scratches. Due to the circumstances, the driver was not charged.
Aug. 5
2:34 a.m. An officer on patrol spotted a woman consuming liquor outside of a liquor establishment. The woman refused to discard the liquor and was arrested and lodged until sober.
4:59 a.m. A van with a canoe on the roof was reported stolen from the Collinson Road area.
3:15 p.m. A complainant told police they had found their stolen chainsaw for sale at a local pawn shop.
3:39 p.m. Report of a sexual assault.
4:39 p.m. A single vehicle accident was reported, with no injuries.
5:50 p.m. A disturbance was reported on the 1800 block of 2nd Street North.
7:00 p.m. Report of threats.
9:16 p.m. A suspicious person was reported on the 1900 block of 2nd Street South.
10:00 p.m. a pedestrian accident occurred on Van Horne Street and 2nd Street North. A white sedan hit a cyclist and then fled the scene. The cyclist was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
10:15 p.m. Report of a man passed out near a local service station. Police attended and found a highly intoxicated man, who was then lodged in a cell until sober.
10:48 p.m. Report of an erratically driven white pick up truck. The driver was tailgating and passing unsafely.
11:06 p.m. Report of a very intoxicated male on the 5000 block of Mission Road. Police attended and apprehended the man under the Mental Health Act and he was transported to hospital.
Aug. 6
1:08 a.m. Report of a domestic dispute.
3:13 a.m. A suspicious person was reported on Highway 3/95 near Twin Lakes Road.
5:10 a.m. An attempted theft was reported when an individual tried to cut the wire on a donation box on the counter.
8:49 a.m. A brown 2000 Hyundai Tuscan with an Alberta plate was reported stolen from a local hotel.
9:58 a.m. An erratic driver was reported. The vehicle was a black Volkswagen with BC plates.
10:17 a.m. A shoplifter was reported at a local beer and wine store.
12:10 p.m. Police were requested to remove two unwanted individuals at a local hotel.
1:19 p.m. A wallet was dropped off at the detachment. It was found near the Yahk bridge.
2:25 p.m. A driver reported that they had attempted to pass another driver, but the other vehicle sped up to stop the pass.
2:30 p.m. A caller reported seeing what looked like a firearm in the front seat of a vehicle in a parking lot. Police attended and found it was actually a BB gun.
5:46 p.m. Report of a break and enter, which occurred sometime overnight at an apartment in the 500 block of 21st Avenue North.
7:32 p.m. A girl was reported missing in the Tye Lake area after she had gone quading and was two hours overdue. Police started their investigation, but were soon contacted that the girl had returned.
10:25 p.m. A large, loud party was reported on the 200 block of Birch Drive.
Aug. 7
2:48 a.m. A disturbance was reported on at a hotel on Cranbrook Street North.
12:40 p.m. A suicidal male was reported. Police apprehended the man after speaking to him and he was brought to the hospital.
12:51 p.m. A burgundy pick up truck was reported for erratic driving.
1:13 p.m. An abandoned vehicle was reported on 17th Avenue South.
2:53 p.m. Youths were reported riding ATVs on McDonald Road and the Scott Creek Forest Service Road.
8:25 p.m. A single vehicle accident occurred. No injuries were reported.
9:12 p.m. An intoxicated man was reported to be sleeping in the foyer of a local bank. Police located the man, who was then lodge in a cell until sober.
9:21 p.m. A quad was reported racing up and down Stanley Road, potentially causing a hazard.
10:17 p.m. An officer on patrol came across a very intoxicated man on Cranbrook Street North. He was arrested for public intoxication and lodged until sober.
Aug. 8
2:52 p.m. A bike was found and turned in.
3:36 p.m. Police checked up on an abandoned 911 call. It turned out to have been in relation to a consensual fight between two individuals. No offences were committed.
5:18 p.m. Report of a custody dispute between an ex-husband and ex-wife.
8:14 p.m. Police looked into an abandoned 911 call, which turned out to be a misdial.
8:43 p.m. An intoxicated woman was reported passed out in a hotel parking lot. She was arrested and lodged until sober.
9:30 p.m. Police attended a hotel to remove an unwanted guest.
9:37 p.m. A disturbance was reported on the 1800 block of 2nd Street North.
11:46 p.m. A loud party was reported on the 300 block of 16th avenue South.
Aug. 9
2:52 a.m. A man was reported to be on the ground near the Greyhound station. The man had fallen and hit his head. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
8:54 a.m. Report of a domestic dispute.
12:02 p.m. Report of a theft from a trailer on the 500 block of Industrial Road B sometime over the weekend.
1:26 p.m. An individual attended the RCMP detachment to report he was having mental health issues. He was then brought to the hospital.
1:36 p.m. A blue Chevrolet with Alberta plates was reported for passing on solid lines and erratic driving.
3:54 p.m. A single vehicle accident occurred. There were no injuries reported.
5:06 p.m. Police and ambulance attended a two vehicle accident. Two individuals suffered non-life threatening injuries.
