RCMP investigating two suspected arsons

Spate of two vehicle arsons in less than a week prompt investigation from local police.

Cranbrook RCMP are warning the public to be vigilant after a man grabbed a seven year old girl near Kootenay Orchards School on Tuesday.

Cranbrook RCMP is currently investigating two suspicious vehicle fires within the span of a week.

On March 7th, Cranbrook RCMP were called to the Gold Creek area for a vehicle which had been burnt.  RCMP attended approximately 10 kilometers out of town and located the burned out truck.  T

he owner was also on scene and he advised that his truck had gotten stuck and when he came out to retrieve it, it was already burned. Cranbrook Forensic Identification Section attended the scene and conducted an investigation of the truck and area. This investigation is still ongoing.

On March 9th, RCMP were again called to a suspicious vehicle fire in the 21st Avenue area. On arrival it was noted there was damage to the bed of the pickup truck. The fire had already been extinguished.

Several residents in the area recall hearing a loud bang but did not see anything.  The Cranbrook Forensic Identification Section also attended this scene and located items suggesting this fire could have been intentionally set.
