RCMP, ERT evacuate Stemwinder Dr. due to 'male in crisis'

Individual will face numerous criminal charges.

Kimberley RCMP, assisted by the Southeast District Containment Team and Emergency Response Team take male into custody, after "risk to public safety" forced the evacuation of Stemwinder Drive.

The Kimberley RCMP detachment were dispatched to Stemwinder Drive on Thursday, Jan. 30, after reports of a "male in crisis," according to an RCMP press released issued Jan. 31. 

"Due to the risk to public safety several nearby residents were evacuated and the Southeast District Containment Team, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and RCMP Negotiator assisted," an RCMP spokesperson said. "The Kimberley RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience during this dynamic situation."

Following a "lengthy" period of time that extended through the night, the male was taken into custody and will face numerous criminal charges. The individual is set to appear in court on Friday, Jan. 30 for a bail hearing.
