Rails 2 Trails section to close briefly

Workers will be doing maintenance to section of trail between Wycliffe Road to the bridge over St. Mary's River on Friday.

Repairs to a washout on NorthStar Rails to Trails will close a portion of the trail to the public on Friday.

The closure will happen between Wycliffe Road to the Rails to Trails bridge over the St. Mary’s river from approximately 8am until 4:00pm.

Trail users will be able to detour around this section by following the Wycliffe Store Road, which is just a precaution for workers and trail users.

According to Chris Zettel, the corporate communications officer for the City of Cranbrook, there is a small section of the trail that needs some work after being washed out from winter melt.

Workers will be on hand with light machinery to fix the section, which should only take a day, Zettel added. Though the trail is being closed for Friday, the work could even take only a few hours.

As far as he's aware, that is the only section of the trail that needs immediate maintenance work.

The City of Cranbrook apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause.  Your patience is appreciated.
