Elegant ballgowns, dashing suits and rock-star regalia paraded down the runway at Mount Baker Secondary School’s Trash Fashion Show June 6.
Students made their outfits out of recycled and repurposed material. There were skirts fashioned from colourful scrap fabric, dresses assembled with music score sheets and newspaper (including the Kootenay News Advertiser), and suits and shirts forged from metal and old film. No two outfits were the same.

The event was held in the foyer of Key City Theatre. Flashy disco balls hung from the ceiling and reflected colourful purple and yellow light onto the runway. DJs Evan Bueckert and Piper Standing played energetic and poppy top-40 hits.
