The new stairwell connecting Balment Park and 17th Ave S has been installed, with a few final touches such as further asphalt and concrete work will be completed in the spring.
The new metal-grated stairwell replaced a deteriorating wooden structure with an enclosed roof that had been in place for decades.
The project was tendered out in the summer, with a lot of planning, surveying and assessment on the foundations of the original stairs, which was crucial to the manufacture and fit of the new steel stairs.
