A new car show is taking over a Kimberley street this weekend as the Motor Mountain National debuts.

The Motor Mountain Nationals—a new car show set in Kimberley—is kicking off this weekend, as Karen Rempel and Andy Cetinski hope to start a new tradition in the area.

The show, which will take over Howard St at the north end of the Platzl, will include a Friday night cruise-in party and a show on Saturday, including a community dinner and dance at Centennial Hall. Other kinds of entertainment such as live bands will be on tap at the bandstand in the Platzl.

Rempel and Cetinski, the duo behind Rocky Mountain Events, are hoping the show will fill the void of the now-defunct Rockin' in the Rockies car show and grow to something bigger and better.

"We were just a little bit surprised that there wasn't a big one going on in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Creston — this area didn't have one," Cetinski said.

Added Rempel: "We want to make it the premier destination spot for car shows."

Whether a classic muscle car or a newer sportscar, don't hesitate to register a vehicle by phoning 250-427-8709 or emailing info@rockymountainevents.ca.
