Early Saturday morning, Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report from a local resident of gun shots in the 2200 block of 2nd St South, Cranbrook.

Upon arriving in the area at 2:33 a.m., police located one man with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The 23 year old Cranbrook resident was transported to hospital and received medical assistance. RCMP cordoned off the scene of the shooting and are investigating.

Police made extensive patrols in the area for possible suspects and utilized police service dog and handler to assist with the investigation. No persons are in custody at this time, however, the investigation is ongoing.

Current evidence supports that this was a targeted shooting, not a random incident and that the general public is not directly at risk at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact their local police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
