Man in custody after robbery at gas station

37-year-old resident of Cranbrook, will be held pending a hearing before a Judge or Justice of the Peace.

Cranbrook RCMP currently have one man in custody after a robbery at a local gas station.

At about 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, Cranbrook RCMP received a call from the Esso Food and Stuff on Van Horne Street in Cranbrook. RCMP were told that the man threatened staff and then grabbed items from behind the counter before taking off on foot toward 8th Avenue South.

Cranbrook RCMP immediately set up containment in the area and called in the Police Dog Service. The suspect was subsequently located in the 100 Block of Cranbrook Street North where he was arrested for Robbery.

The man, a 37-year-old resident of Cranbrook, will be held pending a hearing before a Judge or Justice of the Peace.
