Swollen by snowmelt and rain and aided by warm temperatures, Joseph Creek is flexing its muscles as it flows into Cranbrook. Thus arrives the spring freshet, 2017.
Joseph Creek is running high and some low lying areas of the City which historically see some flooding in the spring months are currently experiencing some flooding.
There are currently no reports of any homes or basements flooding.
The City of Cranbrook is asking residents to please stay away from any water bodies. There may be more changes in creek flow over the next few days. The City is working in partnership with the RDEK Flood Response team to manage the creek flows by using the dam structures further upstream.
