Jaffray’s Dean Brody up for awards at this weekend’s CCMAs

Sunday is looking to be a big day for a local product who is riding at the top of the Canadian Country Music circles.

Sunday is looking to be a big day for a local product who is riding at the top of the Canadian Country Music circles.

Dean Brody is up for seven nominations and a live broadcast performance at the 2013 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards on September 8.

The awards show, taking place in Edmonton, will be broadcast on Sunday, Sept. 8, on CBC Television, starting at 6 p.m. Mountain Time. Gord Bamford, Terri Clark, Johnny Reid and George Canyon are among the other nominees.

The Jaffray product and MBSS grad has had an impressive last couple of years. Brody was named the Number 1 Most Played Canadian Country Artist at radio in both 2011 and 2012, he charted 11 Top 10 singles, and released back-to-back Album of the Year wins at the CCMAs (Trail In Life and Dirt). Brody has won six CCMA Awards and earned two JUNO Award nominations.

This week, Brody unveiled the details for his fourth studio album Crop Circles (Open Road Recordings/Universal Music Canada). Slated for release on November 5, 2013, Crop Circles features his brand new single "Bounty" with guest vocalist Lindi Ortega. According to a pres release from Strut Entertainment, the single has received the Number 1 Most Added spot overall and Number 1 Most Added spot at Country radio for the second week in a row.
