While the municipal election is gearing up, the race is also on for representation at the RDEK.
Area C director Rob Gay made it official on Thursday, declaring his intent to run for re-election of his district.
Gay, a three-time area director, filed his nomination papers earlier in the week and will be running in his fourth election.
“Over the past 9 years I feel very fortunate to have worked for the residents of Area C,” Gay said. “I feel that my experience and leadership abilities allow me to work effectively towards solutions for challenges faced by residents.”
In addition to serving as Area C director, Gay is the chair of the RDEK board of directors and sits on a number of regional committees.
“My pursuit of solutions to locate problems, like the lack of affordable broadband for many residents in our rural areas, has offered me the opportunity to network with other Regional Districts and order of government to find sustainable solutions,” said Gay.
“I’ve have a number of important projects underway and a long list of targets that I would like to continue to work all of which lead to helping to improve the lives of citizens in Area C.”
