This year for Sam Steele Days the Kiddies Day Parade will be right before the main parade on Saturday. Sam Steele Days runs June 13 – 16.
The Kiddies Day Parade is a chance for kids to get in their favourite costume, decorate their bike, dress up their pet or teddy bear and be a part of the community festivities. If they so choose, kids can also just walk the parade, as bikes are optional.
This year it runs right before the main parade on Saturday morning June 15.
"This year we're going to kick off the Sam Steele parade," said Jari Weaver, from the Cranbrook Leisure Services. "Every other year we've had it on a Sunday morning after."
This year, however, they're hoping to get a big turnout with the front-and-centre time.
Participation is free for all ages; just be at 9th Avenue near The Choice at 9:30 a.m. The parade proceeds down Baker Street to 11th Avenue and disperses at the parking lot of 11th and Baker Street.
There will be mascots from some of the local restaurants.
There is also no need to register; just show up and be ready at 9:30 a.m.
