Hear those sleigh bells jingling

Santa Claus is planning to stop in Cranbrook on Friday, November 29

Kick off the holiday season with a jingle and a "ho ho ho" on Friday, November 29 with the Cranbrook Santa Claus Parade.

At 7 p.m., parade floats from local organizations and businesses will roll down Baker Street from 8th Avenue to 14th Avenue, to spread good cheer to spectators lining the downtown street.

And finishing off the parade in a grand fashion will be Santa Claus himself!

"This year's theme is 'The Gift of Giving' with all net proceeds going to the Cranbrook Food Bank. Northstar GM and The Bedroom Furniture Galleries are this year's sponsors and will be actively involved in the parade," said parade chair Patricia Rock.

JCI Kootenay has organized the Santa Claus Parade for the past nine years.

This year, children will have a chance to ride along with Santa in the parade. In a contest, children in Grades 1 through 6 can handwrite one page saying what "the gift of giving" means to them. Then they should write their name, school and grade on the front, their parent's full name and contact information on the back, and bring it to the Bedroom Furniture Galleries on Baker Street before Nov. 25.

Nine winners will be chosen to ride along with Santa in the parade.

Parade entries are still being accepted until Nov. 27. Registration fees are by donation with a minimum donation of $75 for businesses and $35 for non-profit organizations with all net proceeds being donated to the Cranbrook Food Bank. Interested parties can email santaclausparade@jcikootenay.com or call 250-409-4363 for more information.

"The parade will once again be an evening of family fun to set the mood for a wonderful holiday season!" said Rock.
