Grizzlies spotted on ski hill

Hikers are reminded to bring their bear spray and perhaps hike in groups rather than alone.

Just a cautionary note for those who enjoy hiking the ski hill.

Hikers have spotted two grizzlies in that area this week.

Brian Copping, Lift Operations Manager for the Kimberley Alpine Resort, confirmed that the bears were seen on Tuesday.

“They were spotted once on the Caper ski run this week,” he said. “I don’t know if they are still there or not. But it is that time of year when bears are around.”

Copping says it is a bit unusual to see grizzlies in that area — black bears are far more common — but it’s not unheard of.
