An evacuation alert has been lifted for roughly 30 homes in the Spillimacheen region due to the Harrogate wildfire.

The fire is currently in mop up stage, but grew to a size of 54 hectare at it's peak.

The Harrogate fire is the second Wildfire of Note in the RDEK jurisdiction to be contained by fire crews, following successful efforts at stopping a blaze out in the Baynes Lake area late last week.

The Baynes Lake fire is also in the mop-up stage after reaching a size of 117 hectares.

There are 13 blazes classified as Wildfires of Note in the Southeast Fire Centre over the course of the current fire season and all but one are still active.

There have been 252 fires in the Southeast Fire Centre to date, which have burned 1,218 hectares.

A province-wide campfire ban remains in effect. To report a wildfire, call 1-800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cellphone.
