UPDATED: Everyone safe, no injuries reported in apartment fire Monday afternoon

All occupants are safe and no injuries were reported in an apartment fire Monday afternoon, according to an update from Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services.

All occupants are safe and no injuries were reported in an apartment fire Monday afternoon, according to an update from Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services.

Four firefighters initially responded to a fire in one unit of an apartment in the 1600 block of 1st St. S, while four apparatus and 20 firefighters arrived within minutes of the call.

Building occupants were provided shelter and other assistance, with support from Emergency Social Services, which was also on scene.

Investigation into the cause was underway Tuesday morning.

Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services also acknowledges support from Cranbrook RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, Emergency Social Services, BC Hydro and Fortis for their assistance on scene.
