Dashcam evidence leads to violation ticket

Kimberley RCMP receive dashcam evidence, track down offending vehicle and issue violation ticket.

Video evidence from a dash cam resulted in the RCMP once again getting their man.

Due to footage captured by a complainant with a dashboard-mounted camera, the Kimberley RCMP were able to track down a speeding driver.

The dashcam was filming when a vehicle passed four vehicles on Highway 95 near Wycliffe Park Road on Jan. 21. The offender passed two vehicles and then two more, at which point they were in the opposite lane going through the intersection.

Two oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction at the intersection were forced to pull over to the shoulder to allow the offending vehicle to pass.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with Undue Care and Attention under the Motor Vehicle Act and issued a violation ticket, which carries a fine of $368 and six demerit points.

Police are receiving a large number of driving complaints along Highway 95A between Cranbrook and Kimberley, especially at peak periods. RCMP is conducting targeted enforcement and complaints will be acted on if there is enough evidence.
