Coroner names man who died in Wasa accident

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a motor vehicle incident on Jan. 6, 2013, near Wasa.

The man is Dale Andrew Davis, aged 52, from Wasa.

Mr. Davis was the sole occupant of a vehicle, travelling northbound on Highway 93/95 near Wasa, when the incident occurred.

Cranbrook RCMP and East Kootenay Traffic Services responded to a single vehicle accident at 1:23 a.m. on January 6, 2013.

The accident occurred on Highway 93/95 near the Wasa Rest Stop.

Police say a 1986 Ford pickup truck was heading north and went off the road to the left. The truck hit the ditch and rolled over once.

The single occupant and driver appears to have died instantly, says Cpl. D. Perpelitz of East Kootenay Traffic Services. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Perpelitz says road conditions at the time were good, although a light snow was beginning to fall.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate this incident.

The family of Mr. Davis has been notified of his death.
