Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

And that’s okay, according to the City of Cranbrook.

The city says contractors will be lighting slash piles on fire in the Southstar area south of the city on Wednesday, weather permitting. The burns will be supervised and are being carried out as part of a fuel reduction and wildfire protection initiative.

Smoke will likely be visible from the broader Cranbrook community, says the city.
