Clocks officially move forward at 2 am local time Sunday, March 12. Most people change their clocks on Saturday night before going to bed.
With the time change, Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services asks residents to inspect all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Ensure you test them and replace all the batteries. Smoke alarms should also be replaced every seven to 10 years.
Having working smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside every bedroom and on each floor of your home is strongly recommended. More than 2,300 people die each year in home fires.
