The City of Cranbrook clears the area around a broken water main on 21st Avenue South Thursday. Service to the neighbourhood expected to be back up by noon.

The City of Cranbrook was on scene of a water main break Thursday morning on 21st Avenue South.

The break was expected to affect residents in the neighbourhood by Victoria Avenue and between 2nd Street North and 2nd Street South until noon Thursday.

In order to make the necessary repairs, the City shut off water service to all residents on 21st Avenue South, Anderson Crescent and to all residents in the Shannon Heights, Shannon Court and Glen Livet Manor apartment complexes along Victoria Avenue until at least noon Thursday.

The City of Cranbrook said in a press release that once water service is restored, affected residents can expect to have dirty water in their homes. The City asks that you simply run your cold water taps until the water runs clear.

The City of Cranbrook apologizes for any inconvenience this water disruption may cause and appreciates the patience and understanding of those residents affected.
