East Kootenay Traffic Services confirms that after a lengthy criminal investigation charges have been laid in a fatal motor vehicle collision.
On April 21, 2015 two motor vehicles were in involved in a collision on Highway 43 just north of Sparwood, B.C. The collision resulted in the death of 21 year old Sparwood resident, Cory Landry.
Kody William Tanner of Sparwood, BC has been charged under the Criminal Code with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Street Racing, Impaired Driving, and Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Level Over the Legal Limit Causing an Accident Resulting in Death.
Kody Tanner is scheduled to appear in court on August 25, 2016 in Fernie, B.C.
Meanwhile, Shayla Gail Zabok of Drayton Valley, A.B has been charged under the Motor Vehicle Act with Driving Without Reasonable Consideration and Excessive Speed.
Shayla Zabok made her first court appearance on June 2, 2016 in Sparwood, B.C and is schedule to re-appear July 28, 2016 in Sparwood, B.C.
