Sounds of southern rock and blues echoed from Western Financial Place on Sunday evening as George Thorogood and the Destroyers rolled through Cranbrook as part of a cross-Canada tour.

With a no-frills show of straight up rock ‘n roll and boogie-woogie, Thorogood reached back through decades of material with a set list of the pioneering tracks that made him famous, such as ‘One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer,’ ‘Move it On Over’ and of course, ‘Bad to the Bone,’ which closed out the show before a brief encore.

Thorogood brought the heat with his Gibson Les Paul guitar, churning out each familiar rock and blues riffs and slides with ease alongside bandmates Jeff Simon (drums), Bill Blough (bass), Jim Suhler (guitar) and Buddy Leach (saxophone).  The Ben Miller Band warmed up the crowd as the opening act with a blend of rock, bluegrass and delta blues in a 40-minute set highlighted by a unique cover of ‘House of the Rising Sun.’
