RCMP and the Conservation Officers Service are investigating after a mess was left at a bush party at Lazy Lake.

RCMP, Natural Resource Officers and Conservation Officer Services are currently following up on a bush party held near Lazy Lake on Saturday, Sept 3.

Natural Resource and Conservation Officers attended the area the morning of Sept. 4 and found a warm fire pit and lots of garbage.  They learned a party complete with a DJ had been held there.  Officers were very concerned about the amount garbage left behind and the fact the fire pit was still warm, which with the right conditions could have flared up.

Police had attended the location the night before as people were starting to congregate. The party-goers were warned about consequences should there be issues.

The police along with Natural Resource and Conservation Officers are following up on the incident. Although there was wasn’t a fire ban at the time the fire was not properly extinguished and officers believe it was larger than regulations allow.

The fine under the Wildfire Act is $1150 and Littering under the Environmental Management Act is $115 per incident.
