Tanglefoot Vet recently won the 2023 Canadian Veterinary Practice of the Year award from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Cranbrook residents have long known Tanglefoot Veterinarian Services was the team they wanted in their pets’ corner. Now the local vet has the provincial and national accolades to prove it, too!

The Tanglefoot team recently won the prestigious 2023 Canadian Veterinary Practice of the Year award from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association which recognized Tanglefoot’s excellence and resiliency throughout the pandemic, prioritizing staff well-being and outstanding achievement within the Cranbrook community.

In addition, Head Registered Veterinary Technician Abbey Bowie has received the 2023 Mentorship Award from the British Columbia Veterinarian Technologists Association, recognizing her hard work and dedication in training the next generation of Veterinary Technologists.

The Cranbrook practice hosts many veterinary and veterinary technologist students every year as part of the students’ practicum and externship placements required to earn their diplomas and degrees. Bowie is the primary mentor for the veterinary technologist students during their time at Tanglefoot.

“I’m incredibly humbled to have received this award from the British Columbia Veterinary Technologists Association,” Bowie says. “There is such gratification that comes with mentoring students and fellow technicians, and I look forward to preparing many more for the wonderful world that is veterinary medicine.”

Bowie’s recognition, in addition to the team’s national salute, are both great honours, says Dr. Jasmine Hardy, veterinarian and practice co-owner.

“So much of what we do is behind the scenes and I’m grateful our team has been recognized for their hard work.”

To celebrate, the Tanglefoot team is hosting an Open House on June 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. Join them for a full afternoon of fun and educational activities, adoption opportunities and more.

You can also catch the team at Cranbrook’s Spirit of the Rockies community celebration where Tanglefoot Vet has sponsored the Wiener Dog Races and will be participating in the parade.
