Creston: Red Bird Winery Releases Two New Products

On a recent visit to the tasting room at Red Bird Estate Winery in Creston we were pleased to sample two releases for 2025. 

Red Bird is owned and operated by Remi and Shannon Cardinal who noted, "At Red Bird Estate Winery, we’re always looking for creative ways to adapt and innovate. This spring, we’re thrilled to introduce two new products that reflect resilience, collaboration, and our ongoing passion for exceptional flavour: the Atelier White and Ginger Cider."

Cranbrook: Keefer adds new Biologist

Kiirsti Owen is a new wildlife biologist with more than 10 years of experience in applied conservation, ecological research, and collaborative stakeholder engagement across diverse ecosystems in British Columbia, Alberta, New Brunswick, and internationally.

Kiirsti is completing a PhD in wildlife habitat management in collaboration with Ducks Unlimited Canada. Kiirsti earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Windsor, which focused on bird community response to regenerating tropical dry forests in Costa Rica. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecological Restoration from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Nakusp: New Window and Door Company Opens

Stephane Fortin is the founder of West Kootenay Windows and Doors, a new business located in Nakusp. From his home workshop, Stephane repairs, restores, upgrades and builds new wood windows and doors. He has accumulated nearly 15 years of experience in the industry before launching his own business. “My windows and doors are built using authentic, time-tested mortise and tenon joinery,” he says. “I primarily use Douglas Fir (indigenous to BC), which is a superior species for windows and doors.” Congratulations Stephane.

Cranbrook: A Symphony of Flavours

The Spice Symphony, a new ethnic food restaurant featuring Indian regional cuisine is now open in Cranbrook. The restaurant is located on 8th Avenue, in the former Bamboo Gardens building which has ungone extensive interior renovations. Their menu includes Indian favourites like Aloo Soyabean, Kadia Paneer, Indian-style macaroni, poori chana and Dasheen. The Spice Symphony touts their food lineup as the finest in Indian Street Food. Safal Madaan is the owner and operator of the restaurant and it will be open 9 to 9 seven days a week.
