Water usage ins increasing across the city as warmer temperatures return.

Over the past few days, the city says the Public Works department has noticed a significant increase in the amount of water being used each day as people begin to do more work outside in their gardens and yards.

The city is currently under Stage 1 of watering restrictions, meaning even numbered addresses may water Monday, Thursday or Saturday; odd numbered addresses may water Tuesday, Friday or Sunday to a maximum of two hours between 5am and 10am or 8pm and 11pm, but not in both the morning and evening windows.

The city says there has been some challenging conditions the past two years, which puts a lot of pressure on the City’s potable water supply. Public Works is closely monitoring the overall water use while also monitoring the inflow level of water into the Phillips Reservoir.

The city is encouraging residents to water only when they absolutely must and only water on the days and times you are allowed to.
