The Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child and Family Service Society hosted a celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 18 at Rotary Park in Cranbrook. With a theme of “ksukiⱡ̓q̓ukamaⱡnam” — meaning “community” in the Ktunaxa language — the event featured drumming, traditional dancing, booths & displays, food, speeches, and more. Activities ran from 12:30 to 5 pm, bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate the strength, diversity, and unity of Indigenous and Metis cultures.
