The outlet is now buzzing with activity under the direction of new franchisees Beth and Mike Moraca.

The Moracas are from Winnipeg, and Beth has extensive retail experience working at Shoppers and Cobs in Winnipeg. Beth says Cobs end-of-day giving program attracted her to the franchise. The program helps feed hundreds of people every month.

Nelson: Castanet Takes Over the Nelson Daily

Nelson is Castanet’s seventh newsroom, with plans for additional expansion in Trail and Castlegar.

Kimberley: Togs at New Location

If you are looking for Kimberley's well-known consignment store Togs (formerly known as Togs and Toys), you will find it at a new location at 1975 Warren Avenue.

“For 40 years Togs has been a local institution, and generations of families have taken advantage of our system. Togs is not a franchise, we are one of a kind, and a family business.” said Lisa Searle, who assumed ownership in August. “Furthermore, we have a charity program that takes your items that do not sell and distributes them to those in need.” Togs prides itself in being one of the most diverse consignment retail operations in Canada with over 3,000 consignees.

South Slocan: $1.2 Million Goes to South Slocan's Drop Group

Through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund (BCMJF), the Government of B.C. is contributing as much as $1.2 million toward projects in the Kootenays that will create more than 80 jobs in South Slocan.

The Drop Group is undertaking two large-scale capital projects, which will contribute to local supply chains and scale up operations for its rapidly growing businesses, Drop Sprockets Inc. and Drop Marine Inc. Both companies work with local educational institutions to offer apprenticeships and support youth and co-op students with training opportunities on advanced machinery.
