Th intersection across from Kinsman Arena will have its traffic lights replaced with a four-way stop

The intersection at 14 Ave. North and 2 St. South, across from Kinsman Arena, will become a permanent four-way stop, following the results of a traffic review by the city.

A four-way stop was set up at the intersection in the spring after the traffic lights failed. A subsequent review undertaken by the city determined the electrical controller system had failed and that the lights are no longer repairable, while purchasing a new system would cost upwards of $850,000.

Council was updated at a council meeting on Sept. 9 and decided not to go through with replacing the system due to the high cost. A project will be launched this fall instead to update the line markings and signage at the intersection.
