The weather was benevolent, bordering on tropical, on Tuesday, July 1, throughout Cranbrook’s celebration of the 158th anniversary of Confederation in Rotary Park. The crowds turned out in their hundreds to enjoy the music, courtesy Pretty For The People, the cupcakes courtesy the City of Cranbrook, a plethora of activities and food and refreshment, and our fellow Canadians, courtesy each other.
To launch the afternoon, Mayor Wayne Price presented deserving students with the Community Citizenship Awards. The students, from Laurie and Parkland Middle Schools and Mt. Baker Secondary Schools, are selected based on community participation (involvement in an organization or activity that results in positive benefits to others and to the community at large), promotion of Cranbrook (involvement in an organization or activity that puts them in a position of ambassador for Cranbrook), and overall involvement with their schools that show dedication to school spirit, schoolwork, and leadership.
The 2025 Community Citizenship Award winners are: Paige Parnell (MBSS), Avaiah Pelletier (MBSS), Naye Kim (MBSS), Lilli Teneese (LMS), Claire Bergen (LMS), Kenzie Hert (LMS), Preston Oler (PMS), Halle Loggains (PMS), Olivia Scott (PMS).
