Local photographer Brian Clarkson has spent decades capturing the diversity and intricacy of the world through a camera lens, and he'll be sharing the stories behind his work at "Bookends", an event at Key City Theatre on Nov. 15.
Clarkson will take the audience on a visual journey, sharing the stories behind his five favourite photographs ever taken, that offer insight into defining moments of his life. He'll talk about the people and places that have shaped his art and the perspectives he's gained through his travels and his humanitarian efforts abroad.
The featured photographs will be auctioned off at the event, with proceeds going to a Cranbrook and Kimberley fundraiser to build a hospice house — a cause that is special to Clarkson.
“We are thrilled to offer the community this unique opportunity to hear directly from Brian and support a vital local cause,” said Key City Theatre executive director Galen Olstead. “This event not only showcases incredible art but also strengthens our community.”
Clarkson started his career in 1966 and ran a successfull photography business for many years. Since his retirement, he has found work as an on-call photographer for businesses and community events.
The reception starts at 6:30 p.m and presentation at 7 on Nov. 15. Admission is pay what you can.
