Trove of rediscovered paintings on display at Arts Council

Collection of paintings rediscovered when Creston resident purchased the contents of a storage locker in Creston.

The paintings of Victorine Kierstead are currently on display at the Cranbrook and District Arts Council on 10th Avenue South, including the portrait series pictured above. Kierstead was a Toronto-area painter, born in 1913, whose work reflects a Group of Seven influence. The collection of paintings was rediscovered when Creston resident Tracie Truscott purchased the contents of a storage locker in Creston. In the boxes she purchased were more than 100 paintings and drawings by Kierstead.
