For the Townsman

Since 1921, the poppy has stood as a symbol of Remembrance with a visual pledge to never forget all those Canadians who have fallen in war and military operations.  The poppy also honours those who continue to dedicate their life to service.

Proceeds from poppy funds offer financial support to veterans, ex-military personnel and their dependents.  The Royal Canadian Legion #24 (Cranbrook) has also focused on providing funds to purchase medical equipment with donations to East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

At its recent annual general meeting, members of the Royal Canadian Legion #24 presented EKFH with a gift of $5,000 from its 2013 Poppy Campaign.

These funds are already going to work to the benefit of the Dr. F. W. Green Home with the order of a new broda chair; a repositioning chair that provides exceptional patient comfort while reducing the time and effort required by nursing teams and caregivers.   The poppy fund is also purchasing a pulse oximeter;  a non-invasive method for monitoring a patient’s oxygen saturation.

The Royal Canadian Legion #24 has been generously donating critical funds to health care for over a decade.  With this recent gift, East Kootenay Foundation for Health is proud to announce that the Poppy Fund Campaign has had an impact of over $60,600 in gifts aiding veterans and their families in the East Kootenays.

Without the generosity of the public who continue to support Poppy Fund Campaigns across the nation this support for veterans would not be possible.  Lest We Forget.
