Health services, programs showcased at open hosue

Staff and volunteers representing Interior Health, the Castlegar & District Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary, Castlegar Hospice Society, along with guests from Circle of Indigenous Nations Society (COINS), hosted a public Open House event on Wednesday, April 17 to showcase the Castlegar & District Community Heath Centre’s programs and services.

Feature programs included the Urgent and Primary Care Centre, Emergency Department Services and a wide variety of important public health services.

The Urgent & Primary Care Centre (UPCC) is available to anyone in the Kootenay Boundary who can attend in person on via Zoom. The UPCC offers physiotherapy; and, with a referral, social work and nursing services. Call ahead to make an appointment for all services at 250-304-1289. It is open 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Emergency Department services provides care for individuals who need immediate medical attention. Services are prioritized based on the severity of a patient’s condition upon arrival. It is open 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Castlegar & District Community Heath Centre also houses other programs and services such as Public Health; Home Health and Home Support; Mental Health & Substance Use; IH Careers; Hospice Services; Foundation campaigns and Auxiliary support, Lab and Imaging services, and more. It is open Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Castlegar & District Community Health Centre offers free parking, is wheelchair accessible and is located on the local bus route.
