There was one house in Cranbrook that sent shivers down everyone’s spine on Halloween night.
The Hessler family turned their property at 1325 19 St. South into a ghoulish graveyard. 12 foot skeletons with bright menacing eyes paraded devilishly around the yard, and spooks lurked behind gravestones and waited for unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.
There were a total of 565 people who stopped by that night, some of whom drove from other areas of town just to see the house in all its splendor. Those who were brave enough to make it up to the door received their fill of treats.
Paul Hessler said they’ve been perfecting their design for eight years and that each year it gets bigger and better. This year they added more fog machines and lights. The Hessler family worked for weeks to set it up.
“We love it,” said Paul. “Just the spookiness of it. It’s fun. Everybody dresses up. It’s a community thing.”
