Rosalie Anne LONG

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosalie Anne Long who passed away peacefully at home following a 3-year hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, August 11th at the age of 71 years.

Anne Rosalie Raven was born August 29, 1945 to parents

Kenneth and Dorothy in Salmon Arm, BC. She was in the

first class to graduate from the Kelowna College Institute of

Nursing. Rose met Terry, and a short while later, on December 18, 1965, the two married. Together they shared 51 1/2 years of marriage while raising 4 children and taking care of many foster children along the way. They also managed to operate a very successful excavation business for many years, and for the past 27 years have resided on their family farm in Jaffray.

A Perspective To My Mother

As I stood watching her, with that quiet smile on that face I

loved, someone at my side says, “she’s gone”. “Gone where?” The loss of sight is in me, not in her. Just at the moment when someone says “she’s gone”, there are others who are watching her coming.

Other voices take up the glad shout. “Here she comes!” And

that is dying. “Lest We Forget”

Rosalie is survived by her husband Terrence Kearne Long

and their children: Brenda (Steve) Jolie, Terry Long (Debbie

Clampit), Loralie (Gregory) Meeuwsen, and Donny (Tara)

Long, and 5 grandchildren: David, Jeremy, Terry Jr., Kathleen

and Tyler, as well as her first great grandchild, Scarlett. She

was predeceased by parents Kenneth and Dorothy Raven, and siblings Marrian, Margaret, Kathleen and Ken.

An informal gathering for family and friends will be held at

the Long Family Farm on Tuesday, August 29th from 1:00 –

4:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cranbrook

Cancer Society.

Rose’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Interior

Health, Dr. Ron Clark, the Red Cross, and the Cranbrook

Cancer Clinic for their care and support.
