It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Dick Griffith - Interior Sports and Trophies on April 19, 2024. Born May 25, 1940 in Cardston, Alberta. Dick grew up in Galloway, B.C. enjoying a great youth. The family moved to Cranbrook in 1957 where he met Cynthia Harris and married in 1960.
In 1978 he started his own business Interior Sports and Trophies expanding to include stringing tennis and badminton racquets as well as scuba diving sales and lessons. Through the 1980 and 90's he and his good friend, Carson Ganci, enjoyed wonderful scuba diving trips to Malasia, Africa, Australia, Honduras and Cuba. He enjoyed years of competitive badminton and tennis also travelling to tournaments including Hawaii.
He leaves to mourn his children: Vern (Jackie), Michael (Julia), Joe (Jodie) grandchildren Ryan, Elliot, Kaylee, Christina, Dakota and Gaige, his sister V. (Dolly) Pinchak (Angel), and his partner Petra Ware to whom he has happily shared the past 15 years with and gained the extended family of Matt and Tiffany and two little grandchildren, Rose and Hugo.
He was predeceased by his wife, Cynthia, parents Vic & Nett Pinchak and brother Jesse Pinchak.
He wished to leave a heartfelt thank you to the people of the East Kootenay and Columbia Valley for years of business. To Lawrence Jewett for his life long friendship, kindness, and wicked tennis and racquet ball matches. To Gilbert Guindon for his generosity and support these past two years and I am happy to announce Interior Sports and Trophies will continue under the new ownership of Gilbert Guindon as East Kootenay Sports and Trophies.
