It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mervin “Mert” McKay of Oliver, BC, beloved husband of 60 years to Delores. Mert passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Sunnybank Centre on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 83 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Delores, children: Kim (Rob) Laramee, Cindy Barbour, Vicki Moore, Lloyd McKay (Peter James), David (Gillian) McKay, Lyne-Marie Matthews, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by his brother, four sisters, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mert was predeceased by three sisters and one granddaughter.
Mert was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, fishing, hunting, going for drives and spending time with his dog Mickey. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Sunnybank Centre for their endless care and compassion over the years. Memorial donations in Mert’s honour may be made to the Variety Telethon which will air on Global TV in February. A private family service will be held at a later date.
